Melbourne, Feb 3: India registered their first win in Australia by defeating the home side in the second T20 match by eight wickets, here on Friday.

Gautam Gambhir (56*) hit a boundary to drag India to the winning score of 135 runs for the loss of two wickets in 19.4 overs in the match.

Australia had posted a winning target of 132 runs to India.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni remained not out on 21.

India lost the wickets of Sehwag (23) and V Kohli (31) in the match.

The visitors made a good start to the run chase as India openers added 43 runs in the first wicket partnership before B Hogfg picked the wicket of Sehwag.

Kohli and Gambhir played well to add 54 runs in the second wicket partnership.

Australia captain George Bailey won the toss and opted to bat against India in the second Twenty20 international at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Indian bowlers bowled well and fielders gave them good support to successfully restrict Australia to 131 runs.

Australians kept on losing wickets at regular intervals as they were bowled out in 19.4 overs.

A Finch remained the top scorer for the home side with his 36 runs.

D Warner (8), S Marsh (0), G Bailey (3), M Marsh (13) failed to perform with the willow on Friday.

Rahul Sharma and P Kumar picked up two wickets in the match.

Indian fielded well in the match and executed four good run outs.

Earlier India had lost the first T20 match on Wednesday.
