Mumbai, Feb 14: Former Queensland fast bowler Joe Dawes has been named the new bowling coach of the Indian cricket team.

Dawes will step into the shoes of current bowling coach Eric Simons. Simons's contract with the team ends at the completion of India’s ongoing tour of Australia.

A right-arm paceman, Dawes has represented Queensland in Australia’s domestic circuit in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He went on to have stints as bowling coach of teams like South Australia and Adelaide Strikers. He had also coached Queensland before his stint with the Redbacks.
