We have just completed 75 years of our existence. 75 years…quite a long period for a company by any standard. Peerless has become a solid and sound edifice built on the confidence and trust of its customers. This everlasting faith and trust of our customers are manifested in our corporate slogan, which, when translated would mean, “Your confidence, our pride.”

Peerless has come a long way. Today it is having a countrywide customer base of 4.5 to 5 Crore. Being a strong believer of self-help philosophy, Peerless has laid down a new standard so far as the employment generation is concerned. As a unique achievement, Peerless has been able to pay back approximately Rs.16,000 Crore to its customers till now.

Being a traditional, 75 years old institution with strong ethics and values, Peerless was never reluctant to incorporate newer technologies. Rather, it developed its countrywide vast field network and branches by introducing newer technologies in the company at the appropriate time. It is for this reason, now, for the first time at the beginning of a Bengali New Year, we can clearly assert that the professionals who are working in this company are in no way inferior to those of the biggest private credit rating agencies of India.

The most interesting part of this organisation is the active participation of the 2nd and 3rd generation of customers as well as employees. As I told earlier, as a strong believer of self-help philosophy, this organisation is getting 2nd generation workers as well as 2nd and 3rd generation of customers who are working with this organisation with equal ease and clarity and I believe this should be the trend all over as by now it is clear that the lions share of the employment generation in an economy originates from the self employment segment and Peerless strongly believes in this.  
  
Peerless is gradually incorporating professional, young, energetic and dynamic leadership into its management. About seven years back my son Mr. Jayanta Roy, after completing his studies in India and abroad, joined this organisation as trainee. Gradually he was being exposed to different works and responsibilities of different fields of this vast organisation. This way he was brought to the position of decision-making. Today he is working as Executive Director (Corporate Planning and Development) in this organisation. 

If you ask me about the USP of Peerless, I would say that, the respect this organisation shows to its customers would come first. Peerless always shows due respect to its customers. Second point is the trust. Peerless has been able to gain the confidence of its customers over its long 75 years of existence. Third point is transparency. Each and every activity of Peerless is transparent. This transparency in its works ultimately increased the confidence of its customers. In a way, Peerless has successfully mixed the profession with heart. Peerless believes that its employees are not robots. That is why, even after being a full-fledged professional organisation, Peerless never looses its emotional orientation that emanates directly from the heart. This emotional orientation ultimately acts as a bonding force within this organisation, which in its turn results in the low rate of exodus of employees from the organisation.

Peerless was never contented with the business of its Eastern region only. It started spreading its wings like anything all over the country. It will continue to expand its business in different lines of activities all over India in future too. It will consider the Western part of the country as a field for its future growth. An amalgamation of experience with technology will be the main tool for its future expansion. International firms in the same line of business are offering proposals to join hands to extend their reach to the vast section of its customers in this country. Peerless also extended hands to some international firms to give support to their business. With the extensive use of IT in every sphere of the organisation, regular training of staffs, updating of technology used in different fields of this organisation Peerless has created a distinct mark in its line of business. These tools have equipped this organisation with the comparative advantage in different field of activities, which help its employees face challenges, which come on the way while running the show on daily basis.

If you ask me, what would be my message to the young entrepreneurs of this country, I would tell them to be dynamic. I would ask them to be market-savvy. Side by side, I would also suggest them to keep a constant vigil on their individual ethics, because without ethics lots and lots of money can be made in the short run, but long run sustainability always comes at stake. I would like to suggest one more thing to the young entrepreneurs. Always try to learn from the success stories of the successful entrepreneurs but, please keep in mind that there are lot more things to learn from the failures too. One has to analyze the failure stories with equal importance to learn the practical field in detail.
