Kolkata, Oct 13 (UNI) At least eleven long distance trains including Kamrup Express and Darjeeling Mail were detained and movement of traffic to Northeast from Howrah and Sealdah was disrupted following six freight wagons jumped off rails at Chamagram station in West Bengal's Malda district.
The accident led to detention of the Darjeeling Mail (2343 Up/2344 Dn), down Saraighat Express up Kolkata-Guwahati-Garib Rath Express, down Teesta Torsa Express, up Kolkata-Radhikapur Express, down Uttar Banga Express, up Kanchenkanya Express, up Gour Express, up and down Hatey Bazarey Express, both up and down Kamrup Express have been detained enroute since last night.
Consequently, the 3466 Dn/3465 Up) Malda-Howrah Intercity Express had to be cancelled on date and two trains the 5959 Up Kamrup Express and 2345 Up Saraighat Express have been rescheduled to leave Howrah at 2330 hours and 2345 hours respectively.
The accident occurred at around 2215 hours last night when six bogies were derailed blocking both up and down tracks.
There was no casualty in the incident.
Restoration work was going on as teams from Malda town and Sahibganj have reached to the site.
The down line was restored at 1015 hours, a latest report said.
