Mysore, Oct 5 (UNI) The world famous Dasara festivities here, entering the sixth day today, is gaining momentum with a large number of tourists, including foreigners, participating in the celebrations.
Karnatakaa Rural Development, Panchyat Raj and District Minister Shobha Karandlaje and Deputy Commissioner P Manivannan have made serious efforts for the successful completion of the festivities.
The mega cultural programmes held in front of the Mysore palace and 'Yuva Dasara' at the Maharaj’s college grounds received a tremendous response.
The illuminated palace continues to hold centre stage with its thrust on classical music and dance. Cultural programmes were inaugurated by noted actor K S Ashwat on September 30.
The highlight of the programmes at the palace was the folk dance peorformance by more than 30 troupes from other states. A programme titled ‘Janapada Jatre’ was held for the first time here.
The performance of the royal family members, including Chamarajawadiyar, Narasaraja Wadiyar, Chikka Devaraya and Krishnaraja, attracted a large audience.
