We can easily address security concerns: PCB

Lahore, Jul 23 (UNI) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is confident of taking care of security issues in the Champions Trophy this September.

When asked about the concerns raised by some Test playing nations at the ICC meeting in Dubai, PCB security officer for the ICC Champions Trophy Col Zulfiqar said one of the demands was to install vehicle scanners at the venues, which the PCB could easily fulfil.

''The security at the stadium will be very strict as no vehicles will be allowed to come close to the stadium except VIP cars with stickers, while spectators will arrive at the stadium from a shuttle service to be run by the PCB,'' Col Zulfiqar was quoted as saying by the 'Dawn'.

''Every individual will be searched thoroughly before entering into the stadium,'' he added. ''electronic sweeping of the stadium would be done before start of matches while X-ray machines with metal detectors would also be installed.'' The volatile security situation in the country had prompted players from Australia, England and New Zealand to voice concerns about the Champions Trophy which due to start from September 11.
